support groupsHere are some great ideas and options from my on-line friend, JoAnne Funch, for finding Grief Support Groups in your area. I received this e-mail from JoAnne’s blog, Heartache to Healing, and wanted to share with my followers as well….

One of the most frequently asked questions…
Hi Cindy Adams,
I receive emails and comments on my blog almost weekly from people looking for a grief group. The simplest way to find a grief group in your community is by picking up the phone and contacting the following organizations who would have the most up to date information on groups.
Hospice
Funeral Homes
Church’s/ Synagogue’s
Hospitals
Sometimes if you are searching online via Google or your favorite search engine you may not see all the possible opportunities because for example, a church may not have anywhere to post it online.

You will also find grief groups online which can be helpful particularly if you are in an area without access to an in-person group. Being online allows 24/7 access, but the downside is the face to face interaction and typically no facilitator. Sometimes being in-person allows the facilitator to encourage people to participate where online you don’t always get that support.
I have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Heartachetohealing/

Knowing you are not alone in your grief is important and talking with others who are walking the journey of grief can bring comfort along with the camaraderie of connecting with and getting together with others who can support each other in a different way than family or friends often can.
